Our Story about Nixie Clocks

What is nixie?
Nixie tube is a generic name of so called cold cathode neon readout tube. They were used in 1960-1980 in digital calculators and other devices with digital displays. Normally it has ten cathodes in the shapes of the numerals from 0 to 9. These numerals are arranged one behind another, each number appears at a different depth, giving Nixie tube based displays a distinct sharp appearance. Due to a neon gas filled in, each digit inside the nixie tube can be made to glow in the red-orange.
How nixie tube works?
When a high voltage is applied between the wire-mesh anode and one of the cathodes, the gas inside the nixie tubes becomes ionized making a sort of "soup" of plasma. Exactly like shown on the GIF on the left hand side. Much of the light that glows from a nixie tube is produced by collisions between gas atoms, ions, and electrons, just like in a neon tube. When they collide with atoms, they produce photons of visible light—giving that warm glow just beyond the cathode.
Nixie revival
Although LCD technology has forced Nixie tubes obsolete, we are still very passionate with the character of their typographically designed numerals and fascinating neon glow. We want you as well to be able to touch this rare and special display technology and bring it into your everyday life. That is why we gave the Nixies a new life in a form of a nixie clock, which is as a clear symbol of an old era filled with unprecedented engineering and scientific breakthroughs.
What we do
Being very passionate about what we do, we have started nearly 4 years ago and have carefully crafted harmony of nixie vintage and modern electronics and created several different nixie clocks available for you to purchase. We use only New Old Stock Nixie tubes (NOS) and military grades electronic components to ensure its long and issues free operations.
IR Remote Control
To make the use of the Nixie Clock more convenient for our customers, we have added a remote control functionality. You can access all the functions of the nixie clocks with the IR Remote Control.
